How to share Excel files in Google Drive

This tutorial focuses on demonstrating the steps to share Excel files in Google Drive by utilizing the options such as the Context Menu and Share Button. 

Here we have a project involving the collection of data from various university graduates, a team of three members needs to share an Excel file among themselves for collaboration. 

Method 1: Sharing Excel File Utilizing Context Menu 

To share an Excel file from Google Drive, one common approach is to utilize the context menu. For this, the user performs a right-click on the file and a context menu appears. Below are the further steps to share the Excel file from Google Drive. 

Step 1 – Locate the Excel File 

  • Locate the Excel file within Google Drive that you intend to share. 

Step 2 – Right Click on the Excel File 

  • Perform right-click on the Excel file that you wish to share. 
  • A context menu will appear. 

Step 3 – Perform a Click on the Share Button in the Context Menu 

  • Locate and click on the “Share” button within the context menu to proceed with sharing the Excel file. 

Step 4 – Add Gmail & Hit Send Option 

  • Enter the Gmail address of the intended recipient with whom you wish to share the Excel file. Afterward, click on the “Send” button to finalize the sharing process. 

Method 2: Utilizing the Share Button 

To share an Excel file instantly we can utilize the Share icon that appears at the top of the Google Drive interface. 

Step 1 – Locate the Excel File 

  • Find the Excel file within Google Drive that you intend to share. 

Step 2 – Left Click on the Excel File 

  • Perform a Left-click with your mouse on the Excel file that you wish to share. 

Step 3 – Perform a Click on the Share button 

  • Locate and hit the share button. 

Step 4 – Add Gmail & Hit Send Option 

  • Enter the Gmail address of the intended recipient with whom you wish to share the Excel file. Afterward, click on the “Send” button to finalize the sharing process.
