How to remove pivot table but keep data in Microsoft Excel

To remove a pivot table in Excel, you are essentially undoing the table’s organization and appearance while preserving the original data in the worksheet. In other words, it involves eliminating the pivot table’s structure and layout while retaining the underlying data in its original format.

In this tutorial, we will learn how to remove pivot tables but keep data in Microsoft Excel.

There are multiple methods available to remove a pivot table while keeping the data in Excel. One option is to use the Paste Special feature, while another approach involves utilizing the right-click function with the mouse cursor.

Right now, we have a pivot table representing the details of some salespeople. We aim to remove the pivot table but keep the data.

Method 1: Utilizing the Paste Special Feature

Step 1-  Select the PivotTable

  • Select the Pivot Table.

Step 2 – Copy the PivotTable

  • Copy the PivotTable by pressing the CTRL+C keys on the keyboard.
  • You may also copy utilizing the context menu.

Step 3 – Choose the Destination Cell

  • Choose the destination cell where you want to keep the data.

Step 4 – Press CTRL+ALT+V 

  • Press the CTRL+ALT+V keys on the keyboard.
  • This will instantly open the Paste Special dialog box.

Step 5 – Choose the “Values” Option

  • Choose the option labeled “Values” in the “Paste” section, or you can just press V from keyboard again.
  • Hit the OK button or press the enter key.

Step 6 – Now Select the PivotTable Again

  • Now select the PivotTable again.

Step 7 – Press the Delete Key

  • Press the delete key to remove the Pivot Table.

Method 2: Utilizing the context menu options

Step 1-  Select the PivotTable

  • Select the Pivot Table.

Step 2 – Hover the Cursor to the Boundary Line

  • Hover the cursor to the boundary line of the Pivot Table.
  • The cursor will convert into black arrows pointing outwards.

Step 3 – Press and Hold the Right Mouse Button and Drag and Drop

  • Press and hold the right mouse button and drag and drop over the destination.
  • A menu will appear.

Step 4 – Choose the “Copy Here as Values Only” Option

  • Choose the “Copy Here as Values Only” option from the menu.

Step 5 – Now Select the PivotTable Again

  • Now select the PivotTable again.

Step 6 – Press the Delete Key

  • Press the delete key to remove the Pivot Table.
