How to keep a cell fixed within an Excel formula

You can watch a video tutorial here.

You have a formula that needs to be dragged, but the column and row references keep moving while you drag. You need to fix the cell reference within your formula.

There’s an easy way to do this:

Step 1 – Updating your formula

– Select the formula containing the cell reference you would like to keep static.
– Type $ in front of the column letter if you would like the Column to be static.
– Type $ in front of the row number if you would like the Row to be static.
– You can also select the reference and press F4 until you have the desired outcome.

This is an easy way to  keep a cell fixed within an Excel formula without using VBA.
