How to apply horizontal centering in Excel

Excel has several ways in which cells and their values can be formatted. Formatting is used to improve the appearance of the data on a worksheet and to make it look more presentable. One feature that is often used is the alignment options. By aligning data in a column or row, the data can be made to look neater. Here we will see how to center data horizontally in a cell. There are two ways of doing this:
- The Alignment option on the Home menu ribbon
- Format the cells
Option 1 – Use the Alignment option on the Home menu ribbon
Step 1 – Select the cells
- Select the cells for which the data is to be centered
Step 2 – Center the data horizontally
- Go to Home > Alignment
- Click on the Center button
- The values in the column will be centered horizontally
Optin 2 – Format the cells
Step 1 – Select the cells
- Select the cells for which the data is to be centered
Step 2 – Open the Format Cells window
- Right-click and select Format Cells from the context menu
OR
Go to Home > Number and click on the arrow to expand the menu
OR
Go to Home > Cells > Format > Format Cells
OR
Press Ctrl+1
Step 3 – Center the text
- Go to the Alignment tab
- Under Text alignment > Horizontal select Center
- Press OK
Step 4 – Check the result
- The text is centered horizontally
