How to remove green triangle in Excel

Excel has a setting that checks for errors when data is entered into a worksheet. A small green triangle appears in the upper left corner of the cell and when the cell is selected a warning icon is displayed. While this is a useful feature, there may be cases where there is no error and you do not want the green triangle to be displayed. You can remove the green triangle by either ignoring the individual errors or by changing the settings at the application level.
Option 1 – Ignore an individual error
Step 1 – Select the cell
- Select the cell with the error and a warning icon will appear
Step 2 – Ignore the error
- Expand the drop-down menu next to the warning icon
- Select Ignore Error
Step 3 – Check the result
- The green triangle disappears from the cell
Option 2 – Change the settings
Step 1 – Open the Excel Options window
- Select the cell with the error and click the drop-down that appears next to the warning icon
- Select Error Checking Options
OR
Go to File > Options > Formulas
Step 2 – Disable error-checking
- Uncheck the Enable background error checking box
- Click OK
Step 3 – Check the result
- The green triangle has disappeared from the cells with the errors
Note: you need to be aware that this setting is done at the application level and not for one workbook alone. The error indicator will be suppressed in all Excel files that you work on.
