How to stop Google Sheets from rounding

Google Sheets is frequently used for calculations and has many functions to help with basic mathematical operations. The way a number is displayed in a cell is different from the way that it is stored. Sometimes a number is stored with decimal places, but when it is displayed, it is displayed as a whole number. To get Google Sheets to stop rounding, there are 2 ways to change the way that the number is displayed.
- Using the button on the ribbon
- Using the Custom format option
Option 1 – Use the button on the ribbon
Step 1 – Select the data
- Select the data for which the rounding is to be stopped
Step 2 – Increase the decimal places
- Find the Increase decimal places button on the ribbon
- Keep clicking the Increase decimal places button until all the decimal places are displayed
Option 2 – Use the Format Cells option
Step 1 – Select the data
- Select the data for which the rounding is to be stopped
Step 2 – Open the Custom number formats window
- Go to Format > Number
- Select Custom number format
Step 3 – Define the format
- Add zeroes after the decimal point to display the decimal places
- Click Apply
Step 4 – Check the result
- The numbers are displayed without being rounded off
