How to download Google Sheets into Excel

Google Sheets and Excel are both popular spreadsheet applications. Google Sheets is an online tool and though Excel has a web version, it is mostly used as a desktop application. Having created or received a file in Google Sheets, you may want to convert it into an Excel file to distribute it offline. You could copy and paste the contents of the Google Sheets file into Excel, but this is prone to error and not feasible when the file is large.
Step 1 – Download the file
– Go to File > Download > Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)
Step 2 – Wait for the download to complete
– Wait till the file is fully downloaded
Step 3 – Open the file
– Expand the dropdown menu adjoining the file name
– Click Open
Step 4 – Check the result
– The file opens in Microsoft Excel
